Under the theme “Open Up to New Adventures,” the MINI × WaterFun collaboration transformed ordinary urban spaces into exciting destinations for water-based fun. Across three cities, the campaign invited participants to step away from their everyday routines, embrace the outdoors, and experience a fresh way of enjoying water and leisure.

On September 5, the MINI × WaterFun “Open Up” Urban Water Adventure reached its grand finale, with the final three stops — Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Ningbo — launching simultaneously and bringing the campaign to a successful close.

Since setting off from Chengdu, this summer-long water-and-land adventure has traveled across 11 cities, spanning lakesides, riverbanks, and coastal destinations. Along the way, MINI and WaterFun brought together urban exploration, outdoor recreation, and water-based experiences, creating a unique summer journey that encouraged people to step outside their everyday routines and embrace new possibilities.

With the three final city stops taking place on the same day, the “Open Up” Urban Water Adventure has now completed its journey — leaving behind countless memorable moments and a summer full of freedom, exploration, and water fun.

Every stop followed the same winning formula: welcome refreshments, MINI-themed activities, professional vehicle introductions, and scenic convertible drives along lakes, rivers, and coastlines.

Water activities always began with safety instruction and paddling guidance. Equipped with WaterFun professional life jackets, participants took to the water on stand-up paddleboards and enjoyed a safe, exciting, and memorable experience.

Across all 11 cities, one principle remained unchanged: Safety First, Fun Always. This commitment allowed every participant to explore the water with confidence and enjoy every moment of the adventure.

At the Suzhou stop, the MINI convertible convoy made its way through a captivating mix of traditional whitewashed walls, dark-tiled roofs, and modern city skylines. With the roof down, the gentle Jiangnan breeze flowed freely into the cabin, creating a unique encounter between timeless Chinese charm and contemporary urban style.

Out on the water, stand-up paddleboards glided across the surface, leaving soft ripples behind. Equipped with WaterFun professional life jackets, participants could enjoy the water with confidence and fully experience the charm of Suzhou as an “Eastern Water City.”

Here, there was no need to rush. The pace of the adventure slowed to the rhythm of the waves — taking in the scenery, enjoying the water, and embracing the freedom of the moment.

With the MINI convertibles cruising along the lakeside, participants took in the misty mountains and shimmering waters surrounding West Lake. The MINI’s agile handling felt perfectly at home against Hangzhou’s graceful scenery, turning the drive into an immersive journey through the city’s natural beauty.

The adventure then moved from the road to the water. As stand-up paddleboards gently glided across the lake, participants experienced the relaxed rhythm of Hangzhou — a city long celebrated as a “paradise on earth.”

With professional water-sports instruction and WaterFun safety equipment supporting every step of the experience, participants could enjoy the lakeside adventure with confidence.

A city shaped by water and connected to the sea, Ningbo offered the perfect setting for the closing stop. With the convertible roof down, the MINI convoy moved forward into the refreshing sea breeze, as the open road and endless horizon seemed to open up both the view and the spirit.

The adventure then continued on the water. Stand-up paddleboards glided toward the open sea, while waves, splashes, and laughter filled the air. From the evening breeze along the lakeside in Chengdu, to the simultaneous launch of four city stops in Nanjing, Wuhan, Zhuhai, and Shantou; from Qingdao, the city of sailing, to the two-city adventure across Tianjin and Wuxi; and finally to the three-city finale in Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Ningbo — the MINI × WaterFun Urban Water Adventure traveled through 11 cities and 11 unforgettable gatherings, connecting lakes, rivers, and seas into one extraordinary summer journey.

MINI expanded the boundaries of mobility with its open-top driving experience, while WaterFun brought confidence to every water adventure with its professional life jackets.

Throughout the journey, "Open Up" was more than just a campaign theme. It came to life in every moment when the convertible roofs came down, every time participants stepped onto their paddleboards, and every moment they embraced the freedom of being outdoors.
