From September 18 to 20, 2026, the “Protecting Blue Skies, Protecting Lives” Jiangsu Provincial Blue Sky Rescue Comprehensive Training Exercise was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Bringing together 22 Blue Sky Rescue teams and more than 200 rescuers, the three-day exercise focused on a series of highly practical rescue scenarios, including earthquake response, water rescue, rope evacuation, nighttime emergency mobilization, and inflatable rescue boat operations.

During the exercise, Shanghai WaterFun Outdoor Supplies Co., Ltd. provided professional water rescue equipment to support the Blue Sky Rescue teams, helping enhance safety and operational readiness for frontline rescuers working in challenging water environments.

With the goal of bringing training closer to real emergencies, addressing operational gaps, standardizing rescue procedures, and improving response capabilities, the exercise recreated a complete earthquake rescue scenario.

The training covered the entire emergency response process—from disaster assessment and team mobilization to site reconnaissance, victim search and rescue, structural breaching, water evacuation, and equipment support.

Rescuers faced challenging scenarios designed to simulate real disaster conditions, including precision breaching in confined spaces, rope-based water crossings in a flooded bridge environment, and an emergency nighttime mobilization in the early hours of September 19.

By treating every training scenario as a real rescue operation, the teams continuously tested their technical skills, teamwork, communication, and ability to respond quickly under pressure.

The objective was clear: to ensure that rescue teams can respond when called, mobilize when needed, and perform effectively when lives are at stake.

Water rescue was one of the key components of the exercise.

A national water sonar expert was invited to provide specialized training covering sonar theory and hands-on equipment operation. Rescuers learned practical methods for underwater target detection, echo interpretation, and target positioning.

Meanwhile, instructors from the Changzhou Blue Sky Rescue Team conducted practical training and assessments using inflatable rescue boats (IRBs). The exercises focused on critical skills including self-rescue and mutual rescue following a boat capsize, regrouping personnel in the water, righting an overturned boat, and restoring formation and operational readiness.

These scenarios—capsized-boat recovery, water crossings, and close-to-water rescue operations—are exactly the demanding environments where professional water rescue equipment plays an important role.
